Breast Pain in one boob

Hi all

I've been experiencing bad breast pain for the last week. It's mostly localised to a small spot to the left of my nipple in my left boob but I get an intense stabbing/burning pain when I touch the spot that hurts, and also experience pain when I brush up against the spot by accident. When I jiggle the boob too much (e.g. doing exercise) I get a strong, burning pain which radiates across the boob from the area which is painful to touch

I have no lump, no rash, no dimpling, no redness and my nipple isn't inverted, but I am very, very worried. I am incredibly lucky in that I have private healthcare through work and am booked at the one stop shop breast clinic on Friday afternoon, but my mental health is...not doing great right now.

Anyone had breast pain that was localised and had a positive outcome? I know pain is not normally an indicator of cancer, but I've also read multiple threads on Mumsnet where women have had pain as their only symptom.

I had pain near nipple that felt like mastitis but I was 4 years past feeding! It last months and did coincide with an inverted nipple. Had a scan and they said it was nothing, likely hormones going a bit wild. It felt like an infection to me and went away after some antibiotics but the nipple inversion remained. Dr thought it was Duct Ectasia but surgeon didn't say this, rather recommended 1000mg evening primrose oil a day. Luckily you have that health plan, it is worrying with any breast changes and you feel like you can't tell anyone in case it worries them. It is entirely possible it's a nothing situation but you're right to get it checked asap.

Yes, I’ve had breast pain a few times and all has been okay.

I've had benign breast cysts that have been quite painful. You are doing the right thing by having this checked out. Cysts are generally diagnosed after mammogram and ultrasound and often can be drained right then and there. Some will just resolve on their own without draining. Mine were deep enough that they couldn't be felt during a breast exam.

Good luck on Friday, wishing all the best.

Thank you for your kind words ladies, I really appreciate you getting back to me. ❤️ I started taking evening primrose oil last night to see if it helps
