Pelvic Ultrasound results

Hi All,

I went to my GP a few weeks ago as I have a constant heavy feeling and dull ache in my pelvic area. GP examined me and said I had a bulky uterus and she suspected fibroids. So she referred me for an ultrasound scan.

I went for the ultrasound yesterday evening, was told results would be back in 7-10 days.

Just received a phone call from GP surgery and the receptionist said my ultrasound results had come back normal but unexpected and that I need to see the Doctor. Booked me in for Monday. Receptionist said she doesn't know what normal but unexpected means.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I am taking the normal as a good sign but it's the fact the results have come back a lot quicker than I was told they would and no idea what the normal but unexpected could mean.

I don't think anyone here can tell you - even trained people won't have seen the ultrasound. As an untrained person, when I had an ultrasound earlier in the year, I could see the screen, and as they pointed out my ovary and fibroid, all I could see was slightly different shades of grey, so I was quite amazed at what they could tell.

I hope it all goes well. Monday probably seems an awfully long way off just now, but it isn't really. I won't tell you not to worry, because you weren't worried at all, you wouldn't have started the thread. Hope it's all good.

Thank you for your response. I have managed to see a bit more detail on my records which show The anteverted uterus appears heterogenous appearances in; keeping with fibrotic changes however, no measurable; fibroids located.

And then The uterus has an ill-defined outline and; asymmetrical thickening

Ovaries appear normal and endometrium is of normal appearance for this stage in cycle.

So will see what the GP has to say as I have no clue what any of that means. You're right though Monday isn't all that far away! I think it just threw me because I just presumed normal was all good. Never heard normal but unexpected in test results.
