Where to go when your GP is unhelpful about perimenopause

Hi all, I contacted the GP recently to ask what my options are for all the perimenopause symptoms I've been having. Of course it was a phone call and i had to wait a few weeks for it.

The doctor called me on speakerphone, I couldn't hear her well, we had times where neither of us understood each other, we had different accents (I had to shout the word 'period' several times because she couldn't understand what I was saying). The conversation ended where she was completely unhelpful, brushed aside some of my symptoms and now I don't know what to do. I was hoping for a discussion about HRT and my options there but she didn't even mention it until I did and then barely said anything about it.

I'm feeling a bit lost now and not sure where to go next. I happened to be in the doctors the other day and saw all the photos of all the staff and none of them are over 40 so they will only know what they've read about. Where else can I go to get help? I know there's plenty of websites but I want to sit and talk with someone.

After a similar experience where I felt unheard and very sad, I emailed surgery to ask if they had a menopause specialist. They did and she was incredible. She's now been replaced by a prescribing nurse who is male but really know his shit so don't necessarily dismiss all of them due to age - ask if they have a specialist first.

The other option is to Google private menopause GPs / specialists in your area.
