Blood clots

During my period, I'm passing quite a few blood clots throughout the cycle, mainly large ones with the odd small ones. I'm also having to take painkillers because of the pain, something I've never experienced before. Is this change normal as we age? I'm more concerned about the frequent, large clots. I have a smear due next week. Should I mention this to the nurse?

In the last few years, I've suffered from acne and terribly oily skin. this isn't something I've ever experienced. Hormones playing havoc?

You don't say how old you are? It could be womb related - fibroids as a main thing or perhaps something else. I'd suggest to speak to a doctor about this. Period changes should not be dismissed without knowing the cause. And insist they get to the bottom of why your periods have changed.

I'd read them before you go.

I had this, along with much longer periods in general. They did a scan to check for fibroids and a blood test which showed I was anaemic. The scan was fine and they suggested the mirena coil to help with bleeding.
