Hi all
Would appreciate some advice/suggestions if anyone has any after reading my quite lengthy tale!
First thing to say, I had 2 c sections- 2014 and 2018.
About 3 years ago, I started getting pain on the lower left side of my abdomen. Didn't think much of it but since it started it has never gone. It's a dull ache which sometimes 'flares', and these flares have ended up with me in A&E.
I have also had some rectal bleeding.
So I have had ultrasounds, MRi, ct, colonoscopy, endoscopy and laparascopy, and they've never figured out why I've got this pain.
In Jan this year I had the laparoscopy, and they put the mirena coil in at the same time.
Haven't had any issues apart from the fact no one said I had to check the threads.
I then started getting a new kind of abdominal pain- across my belly and higher up, and all over rather than just on the left- which started about 2 weeks ago, along with extreme bloating.
Fast forward to my routine smear yesterday, when the nurse couldn't see the coil.
I had another speculum exam today (excruciating as I have vaginismus), and again the GP couldn't see the coil.
Just before the gp appt, I opened my bowels for the first time in a couple of days as I've been constipated and there was (tmi warning) so much blood. Fresh, red blood. Even later on, 2 hours on from when I opened my bowels and haven't done again, I'm still bleeding from there.
The GP said that if the coil had gone walkabout, there is a chance it might have got stuck somewhere. I was worried about bowel perforation but she said I would be much iller. But she also said that she wondered if it had gone walkabout and was irritating the bowel- causing this pain, bleeding and bloating.
She wrote me a letter to go to A&E but also referred me for an urgent ultrasound scan, which could be within the next two weeks. And she left it up to me to decide what to do. So I've decided to wait it out and see if I can get this ultrasound done soon.
But if the rectal bleeding continues, should I go to A&E?
Apologies for the essay! But has anyone had similar? And if so, what was the solution?
Thanks so much for reading x
