Mine came along at age 10 
They were extremely heavy to the point of making me fill ill. Eventually regulated later in my teens. Heavy for the first few days then tail off, would last around 6 days.
I have 2 children and now periods are more manageable. Normal flow for 2/3 days then lighter the last 3 days.
