Endometriosis or peri menopause?!

I have just had nearly a week of very light spotting, brown and pink. At first I thought it was implantation bleeding, but have had lots of BFNs. Today it has finally turned bright red, so my period is here! However I've never had a whole week of spotting like that before. Before I had my DS, I had all the signs of endometriosis and was awaiting surgery but then fell pregnant during lockdown, so it delayed my symptoms for a while. I don't remember having a week long of spotting before my period, and I've looked back on my Clue app and can't see anything either.

I'm also 37, and wondering if spotting could be a perimenopause sign. Ive had other signs like random hot flushes, insomnia, brain fog etc (but this could also be put down to sertraline medication!).

Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar?!? Got a smear in a few weeks so can rule out anything serious there too.

I'm very interested in the replies you get as I’m also thinking I’m in peri menopause due to of all the symptoms you described. The insomnia is debilitating. My watch says I stand between 17-21 hours a day because I can’t just lie in bed I get horrible RLS.
I was worried I have early onset dementia.. but apparently if you are worried about it then you don’t have it. The hot flushes are rough.. I am on diazepam and trying to cut down, so it could be that. Diazepam could also explain the memory problems. It’s tricky when meds are involved.. the doctors won’t even consider looking into anything else until I’ve stopped taking diazepam. Ive also considered endometriosis for a while because I have such bad abdominal pain, but NOT heavy periods.. which I realise is the main symptom, and I get pregnant every single time I have intercourse without a condom. No matter what day of the cycle I’m on. I’m so confused. Also have a smear coming up (well it’s months overdue) Ive had laser surgery on my cervix in the past to remove pre cancerous cells.. so I must go.. I just hate it so much, and I have nobody to go with me. I’m thinking that as I’ve got a skin cancer lesion being treated on the 31st I thought I can only deal with 1 type of cancer at the time!

Op I'm a few years older than you and my periods always start with a good few days spotting now. Then a few awful heavy days

I'm so sorry to hear all this, it sounds like you're going through a lot. Really hope the step down off the meds helps other symptoms, and then you can hopefully get some answers from the doctor

That's interesting to know, maybe it is an age thing. My period is now very heavy (as normal!) but it was quite a long buildup
