New contraceptive and awful periods

I've moved over to the pill you take continuously the progesterone only one and I'm having 5 days of painful cramp, passing clots and even something that feels more substantial than a clot (no idea what it even is). I use a cup so I can only see when I tip it out. I'm bleeding considerably more than I used to. This is month 4 now so it should have settled. I'm going to call GP this week, what do you think they will advise?

I was on the mini pill for 6 months and it didn’t settle so I was taken off it. By month 4 I would have expected some improvement. They will just say you can stick it it and see if it gets better, or try something else. Are you able to take the combined pill, or try an IUD?

I almost don’t want to ask but on the basis of more substantial than a clot, is there any chance you’ve been pregnant and this is a miscarriage?

Which mini pill?
Is the combined pill unsuitable?
There are other mini pills you could try

bryceQ · 26/10/2024 21:01

The combined pill wasn't recommended as my blood pressure is high. I have a very stressful life. I've had my heart checked I think it's just high when I get it taken.

I have a disabled child and I absolutely can't get pregnant and my and DH got pregnant incredibly easy with my son so I'm so cautious.

I'm so frustrated. I was having the injection that last 3 months which was excellent but it's not recommended to be on it long term as it affects bone density.

I once had the coil which I hated so I'm not keen on trying that again.

Man... Wish it was simple 🙁

Would your dh consider a vasectomy?
How long were you having the depo injection? Could they have checked your bone density rather than stopping having it? Is this enough break to be able to have it again?

FloofPaws · 26/10/2024 23:02

Was it a Mirena coil? They're great! Failing that I'd suggest vasectomy

bryceQ · 26/10/2024 23:19

No he's too young we might have another baby in a few years he's only 35, we just couldn't at the moment. I'm 34 so we still have a few years ahead.

I think I'll ask about the injection and other options.

I have some trauma from birth and I really don't like the idea of the coil....
