What's wrong with me?!!

I'm looking for some advice. I am waiting for 111 to call me back but in the meantime can anyone help?

I have a burning, tingly sensation in my vagina. I also have itchiness and it does burn slightly when I.pee. I have used the Canesten pessary and cream. I have taken cystocalm and cystopurin. I've drunk cranberry juice and tried to flush it out. Pints of water. But it's not going. Not an STI. I thought it might be an unfortunate case of antibiotics causing thrush and getting cystitis at the same time but it's not responding to treatments.

It's hurting me (driving me crazy too!) and it isn't getting better. Any ideas what this could be? Should I be worried here?

Any advice or help would be so appreciated. This is making me miserable.

I'm 42 so may be my age... I don't know at this point.

You probably have a urinary infection and need antibiotics

Or you might have BV

000EverybodyLovesTheSunshine000 · 25/10/2024 21:55

You can get a pessary from boots that treats thrush and BV. Might be worth trying that and antibiotics

FloatyBoaty · 25/10/2024 21:57

BV
Thrush
change of washing powder
have you tried walloping some natural yogurt in there?

Changeusern8me · 25/10/2024 22:17

No I haven't changed wp
Also not tried natural yoghurt as thought was a myth.
You need an app to get antibiotics don't you?

Is this better than the Canesten pessary as that didn't seem to help at all?

Herpes

Changeusern8me · 25/10/2024 22:19

Definitely not herpes
100% not herpes.

It sounds like the start of vaginal atrophy. You are probably perimenopausal and need some topical oestrogen.

Gottastoppostingsomuch · 25/10/2024 22:22

A bad case of thrush can make you feel like your bits are on fire, I found the tablet worked but not sure if you can mix with the things you’ve already used? How long has it been since you used the thrush treatment?

Changeusern8me · 25/10/2024 22:26

Two days ago @Gottastoppostingsomuch

The soft gel pessaries work better for thrush but you probably need swabs to find out what’s causing it before you try too many things that could make things worse.

Foragameofsoldiers · 25/10/2024 22:28

Yoghurt is your friend. Plain not flavoured.

PrincessofWells · 25/10/2024 22:32

As pp said, if it's an uti combined with the start of the menopause it can be very sore and painful. It's worth seeing a GP and asking them to have a look. A prescribing pharmacist can give you antibiotics for the uti, if that's what they think you have. It's probably the most likely.

Changeusern8me · 25/10/2024 22:32

@Foragameofsoldiers love your username 😂

I think my treatment took a couple of days to work, you might find tomorrow morning it’s a lot better, big fingers crossed!. You could try a cold flannel or something to cool things down and distract from the burning sensation

TurquoiseBear · 25/10/2024 22:42

If you’re peri menopausal and it’s vaginal atrophy or the slightly less grim sounding genitourinary syndrome symptoms, what has worked for me is vaginal oestrogen (prescribed by GP), Vagisil (over the counter) and YES vaginal moisturiser (bought online). All used interchangeably.

TurquoiseBear · 25/10/2024 22:44

Genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) signs and symptoms may include:
Vaginal dryness.
Vaginal burning.
Vaginal discharge.
Genital itching.
Burning with urination.
Urgency with urination.
Frequent urination.
Recurrent urinary tract infections.

If a thrush treatment won't clear it, you may have BV. You can get pessaries and acid gels to treat BV. Multi Gyn Actigel has always worked for me.

⬆️⬆️ This. Last time I had thrush I dipped a tampon in natural yogurt and inserted it. Cleared up the thrush and never had it since.

Konfuzzled · 25/10/2024 23:14

I get itchy when I get a UTI. It's my first sign. You can get antibiotics at a pharmacy.

thistlepiedpiper · 25/10/2024 23:43

@AdmittowearingCrocs that is a genius idea. When I had thrush I was sort of just chucking the yogurt up there. A tampon is a much better alternative 😂

Lionsdenoffools · 25/10/2024 23:50

The clap ?

Gottastoppostingsomuch · 26/10/2024 17:30

How’s it going OP? Are you feeling better?

Changeusern8me · 28/10/2024 06:47

Went to a walk in and it was a kidney infection so was given antibiotics. Starting to feel better already. Thanks for advice everyone x
