Has anyone been prescribed Clomifene by their GP or do you need to see a fertility specialist?

I've just had my blood results back which confirm PCOS. Waiting on another GP appointment to discuss but I just wondered what the next steps are regarding TTC.

Will a GP offer Clomifene or do I need to be referred?

Or is there anything else they may recommend trying first?

You should be referred to a gynaecologist at a sub fertility unit. PCOS should not be messed around with by a GP.

Clomid may or may not be offered as a first line of treatment, there are other drug treatments also used these days. These drugs are usually prescribed by the consultant. You should be monitored when on such treatments as you will have no way of knowing whether they are working or not otherwise.

The website called Verity is a useful resource re PCOS.

That's helpful to know. Thank you.
