Colposcopy 2 week pathway referral

Hi,
just wondering if anyone has had the same issues?
I have been referred to colposcopy due to having the following symptoms

irregular bleeding
pain in pelvis and lower back after sex and also bleeding
heavy feeling in lower abdomen
tiredness
just feeling so run down

I have had blood tests and swabs and nothing has come back so my GP has referred me for an urgent colposcopy,

I’ve been waiting 2 weeks and according to the hospital I have another 6 weeks to wait to get an appointment letter as they are behind on the waiting list,

has anyone else had these symptoms and what did it turn out to be?

hi. I didn't have those symptoms but I had an irregular smear so was referred for colposcopy. I presume they are checking your cervix for abnormalities. mine was clear, twice now. it's a really painless straightforward procedure involving a microscope looking at your cervix. a smear is far worse because the microscope just sits at the entrance to your vagina and looks at it. I am sure it's precautionary hence the long wait for an appointment.

Thanks for your reply, my go referred me on the 2 week pathway so I was meant to have an appointment within that time but our health board is so behind that’s why it’s taking so long,

the doctor on the phone did say they would be looking for a cervical cancer as that’s what my symptoms are mimicking so I’m overthinking like mad

I am so sorry to hear this. I freaked out when they referred me but remember even if there is something going on with your cervix its really treatable thats why they have referred you for the colposcopy. I have got my follow up smear next month (once you have a colposcopy you have yearly smears I am afraid). I am hoping for nothing irregular but I am glad I am 'in the system' and getting reviewed regularly.
