Coil/ IUD

Apologies is this is a bit TMI and long winded! As a bit of history I have anaemia and have a history of very heavy painful periods which include migraines, sickness and at times time off work each month.

My GP advised I have the coil to reduce my bleeding and symptoms along with iron tablets… I knew that the coil can take time to reduce the bleeding.

I had it fitted in June and despite a bit of a traumatic experience having it fitted and a day or two of pain it’s been fine.

My periods have started to become lighter and less painful. Normally for a couple of days I can manage with just a panty liner and then I have a few day of more normal bleeding where I still need period pants and a heavy pad.

Yesterday on day 6 of my period I was walking my dogs and could feel something sharp… when I got home I checked and my threads had dropped down and were poking into me 🙁 Today I can no longer feel them so low… I have had a look online and on 111 and it states to get advice from GP (so non emergency).

I am obviously concerned that my coil has moved… though my partner hasn’t noticed feeling the threads at all.

I wonder if anyone has experienced it moving during bleeding? I’m hoping that it just moved during my period ( which can happen) as I really don’t want to go through it being removed and another fitted!

Also just for information my partner has had a vasectomy so there is no risk of pregnancy

My coil moved down, and I know because I had a sudden bleed so was sent for a scan. By the time I got to the gynae appointment, it had moved back up again, and it’s not done it since.
Don't worry, they fall out in some people! Just contact the GP on Monday.

ive read so much about them moving / falling out! I’ll contact my GP tomorrow but it’s like there seems to be such a lack of proper information out there…
