Hello all,

I'll try and be as succinct at possible. I'm 37 and in general good health (eat well etc).

For the last yesr I've been feeling exhausted. Over the past few months I've been irritable due to the tiredness). 4 months ago I had a bad stomach pain (my left side below ribs), with it came lots of bloating and wind (especially at night). I went to the doctor who thought a stomach ulcer/inflamed lining and prescribed Omeprazole. Within a week my symptoms resolved but I kept taking the Omeprazole until the end of the prescription ( 4 weeks in total).

After finishing the medicine I felt fine for a month before symptoms started back. Similar to before but more pain in my lower back, nausea, and more pain and tiredness in general. Also, my periods have went from a 28 cycle to 22.

I went back to the GP who has prescribed 2 months of Omeprazole along with carrying out the following tests which cam back fine except my Lymphocytes being low.

  • full blood count
  • thyroid
  • iron and ferritin (fasted test)
  • test for perimenopausal
  • Vitamin B12 and Folate
  • poo sample

I've been taking the Omeprazole 3 weeks. The burning/acid feeling in my stomach has gone but I'm so bloated 24hours a day. Doing a poo doesn't relive it nor does not eating. I've also gotten more pelvic pain and lower back pain and lots of wind - especially at night. When passing wind I have to strain (sorry tmi).

Anyway, I feel like I'm becoming hypochondriac and don't want to bother the doctor but equally I feel rotten. I've tried cutting of gluten with not effect.

Any ideas for my poor bloated, sore, stomach?

Most likely it is indigestion or digestive issues bit if the bloating is there 24 hrs a day all the time please ask for a CA125 blood test. My mum was fobbed off for months with bloating and other symptoms.and had ovarian cancer.
I do not want to worry you but please check it checked. You know your body better than anyone else.

Her your ca125 checked

Onthehill12345 · 05/10/2024 20:36

Thanks @Justwingingit2005 and @Lifeisgood1. My gran had ovarian cancer but was a lot older (60s). I'll ask the GP if that test has been done. Thank you.

@Justwingingit2005 I hope your mum is okay.

Not to cause any alarm but I had similar symptoms and three weeks later I've been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Please ask for an ultrasound scan and a CA125 blood test. Indigestion can also be linked to ovarian cancer. Good luck with everything 🤞🏻

Sadly she was diagnosed too late.
She was given a few weeks to live but managed over 7 years in the end.
Her GP was a dick. She went 12 times before she collapsed. Was told it was the menopause, ibs, indigestion and her age.

@OneFingerOneThumbKeepMoving thank you for your response. I hope had good treatment and are recovering well. I'll will chase the doctor up for this. Thank you

You need a ultrasound and a scan

It will more than likely be a fight to get the relevant tests

Im a year in , had all the scans, number of things wrong, but still waiting for the initial appoitment to see someone and have even more tests

I'm really sorry to hear. How awful especially when she reached out for help and it was missed on so many occasions. How hard you and your family!

I'll call the doctor on Monday to push for further investigation. They have been really supportive so far so hopefully they will listen.

I have similar symptoms, nausea, extreme fatigue, bloating, burping, wind, and bladder frequency and I have a large ovarian cyst. I think you should have a scan too . X

You really need a scan and the CA test
