Woke up this morning with a red hot patch at the side of my nipple and my whole boob feels sore and tender. It's been there all day and hasn't changed but is still hot to touch. I'm thinking it must be an infection?

Has anyone had similar before?

I'm mid 40s not pregnant or breast feeding

I don't think anyone on here can tell you what it is, OP, and nor should they, really. If I were in your place, I would book in with the GP. Anything to do with the breast should be evaluated, just in case. And if you can't get in to the GP within a reasonable period, I would go to an Urgent Care. They can at least have a look and arrange any testing that may be required.

I hope it's completely minor and resolves very quickly for you.

I know it's not easy, but do try not to panic. If it's an abscess, as PP says, it can be treated with antibiotics, and if it's anything more concerning it will be dealt with right away.

How do you feel in yourself? Do you have fever and chills? Or is it the pain just localised to the breast?

Thank you. I have had Covid last week so still sort of recovering from that. I feel a bit more tired than usual but once again I think it's the left overs from Covid.

No fever, boob doesn't even hurt this morning just this weird mark next to the Nicole

Quick update; dr doesn't think it's anything to worry about and has given me some cream to try. He told me to monitor it and come back if anything changes. I hope he is right

It seems a little less red I think. I keep taking photos to compare it; I'll give it a week and see what it looks like then. Thanks for all your support
