Hi everyone,

Sorry bit of an essay, but I'm struggling with how I take my HRT and I can't get a straight answer from my GP. Can anyone help?

I've been prescribed Evorel 50 patches to take twice a week and then progesterone from day 17 to 28.

The problem is, I don't have a 28 day cycle. My timing of my periods chop and change with no clear schedule. Sometimes it's every month, sometimes every 6 weeks. So after I've taken 10 days of progesterone, I don't get a period.

Here's my question, what do I do at that point?

So far I've just stopped taking the progesterone on day 28, waited until my period arrives (sometimes up to a month later) still using patches, but then once

I've had a period I've then waited 17 days to start progesterone again.

Is this right?

I asked my GP and his response was that my periods should now be regular, end of.

Is this the case and therefore do I need to make another GP appointment because my periods aren't regular?

I've had such a rough time just getting to the point that he'll even prescribe me HRT, even the prescription I now have isn't right, for every box of patches I get issued with 6 months worth of Progesterone every time (I now have progesterone to last me 2 years) So I have no faith in his knowledge. I've also tried some unsuccessful googling so any help on this would be gratefully received. 💐💐💐💐💐

I thought you just started on day 1 and repeated that 28 day cycle regardless of what your periods are doing. In time they should synchronise with the medication.
You should not extend the time between the courses of progesterone as that is protecting the lining of the womb against overgrowth which is encouraged by oestrogen

That makes complete sense, thank you so much. 🙏
