I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on what’s going on with my body.
for context I’m 46 yrs old. I’ve had the Mirena for contraception on and off for over 20 years (removed and replaced for children) I never had a period whilst on the Mirena. My last Mirena was placed in 2022 so it’s not expired. For the past 3 years I’ve had spotting for a few hours maybe every 5/6 months or so.
this past week I had period cramps then bled straight after for 3 days, this stopped for 2 days then more cramping and another bleed for 24 hrs. I’ve started breaking out in spots maybe for the past 5 months, night sweats!! I have not slept a full night in what feels like forever. I know these are all symptoms of perimenopause but this bleeding has really confused me. Can anyone relate or give me some information?

Yes, it’s perimenopause. I get occasional breakthrough bleeding on my Mirena too, but it needs seeing. You need to see the GP and I’d expect them to send you for a scan to check the position.

@Noddy21 i still have a period on my mirena, I'm 46 but also on 100mcg oestrogen. If bleeding isn't normal for you then you should get it checked.
