I was kneeling down looking for something, when I felt my bladder go. No warning, just the sensation and then - oh dear! I just about managed to stop the flow, and ran upstairs to the toilet to finish off. I didn't even have a full bladder!

What the hell happened? And is it going to happen again? How the heck to I go to work tomorrow and feel safe?

So shocked by it that I can't even spell it!

Yup
I had an episode today as well - it’s horrendous!

tenna lady or lidls own version of it, is your friend

poppyzbrite4 · 24/09/2024 22:01

Can you buy some Tenna ladies tomorrow and make a GP appointment.

Mum2jenny · 24/09/2024 22:02

I think many women have had this happen occasionally. It just isn’t talked about, which is a pity.

soupfiend · 24/09/2024 22:02

Yep, trying walking along and you take a slightly bigger step than normal to step up or over the curb and all of a sudden, whoosh

Whats that coming out?

mitogoshigg · 24/09/2024 22:07

Common in peri, it's why there's even an advert (for tena) talking about needing them for a gig.

Lidl own brand pads are cheap, longer term a have modibodi reusables suitable for leaks

Aparecium · 24/09/2024 22:09

Is that it? It just happens and I just have to live with it?

OP posts:
Aparecium · 24/09/2024 22:10

Not peri. I'm 58 and on HRT. It never happened when I was in peri.

I find Incontinence pads are a good solution. No different to wearing sanitary pads for periods really. You can buy pee pants that are very similar to period pants for a more eco alternative.
Remember your pelvic floor exercises though OP.

Aparecium · 24/09/2024 22:12

It wasn't a leak. It was a proper wee, my bladder was trying to let it go, my brain and my pelvic floor were trying to stop it.

Are you on internal oestrogen as well as the systemic HRT, as that makes a big difference as we have oestrogen receptors in our bladder. I have a lot of bladder issues and find Ovestin really helps.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 24/09/2024 22:18

I would think this warrants a visit to the G.P.

LakeFlyPie · 24/09/2024 22:22

Might you have a UTI?
Defo topical oestrodiol (Ovestin) in addition to HRT.
Highly recommend NHS Squeezy app for pelvic floor exercises

LakeFlyPie · 24/09/2024 22:23

*oestradiol

Aparecium · 24/09/2024 22:26

I do have VA, so I use internal oestrogen cream. Not all the time. Mostly, 3 pumps of Oestrogel is adequate. But, as we know, the 'new' round bottles can dispense irregular amounts, so sometimes I think I go short. I find that I need the internal HRT for a few weeks here and there, not continuously. As it happens, I've just had a month of using it.

I’ve been using the NHS Squeezy app for years. I really helps. Good luck. x

Alittlebitwary · 24/09/2024 22:45

Op that's not normal, no matter your age. please see your GP.

If it's genuinely just a leak due to bladder weakness, it can be rectified and you can build up your pelvic floor, it's not just you for life. Look up the MUTU system, or similar.

But see a GP or a women's health physio. You need looking at - and they can help!

AutumnTimeForCosy24 · 24/09/2024 22:50

@Aparecium

get your hormones checked.

im diabetic & if my blood sugars are not in a good way my bladder is like this. I don't take medication, but if I stop being a Carby twat & get my blood sugars inline it stops.

i believe it's down to the affect it has on my hormones.

EBearhug · 25/09/2024 00:28

The only time this happened with me (so far...) was when I had a UTI.
