Vomiting, Diarrhoea and Sulphur Burps

Dancingmum2416 · 24/09/2024 08:59

I had my son 6 months ago, and in the 2 months following that I had 6 episodes of projectile vomiting, diarrhoea and sulphur burps. Doctor said due to the trauma of the birth (EMCS under GA) then back in the week later for an infection, I now have pretty severe IBS. Been taking really good probiotics and everything has been at bay.

Fast forward to last night in the middle of the night and it happens again, vomited 7 times in 2 hours, and really bad diarrhoea with the sulphur burps. Going to phone GP today but has anyone ever had IBS flare ups like this? I feel like it seems to severe for IBS

Thanks

Has no-one requested a stool sample to be tested?

Symptoms of giardiasis include smelly diarrhoea, burps that may smell like eggs, tummy pain and bloating. That was my initial thought on reading your post; not IBS. I also had EMCS under GA and did not experience such problems at all.

I did say this to GP but he brushed it off as it’s coming and going in more of a ‘flare up’ fashion rather than being sick for a week like Giardiasis would make me apparently?

He didn’t request a drool sample then but he said if it happens again we will do one, so that’s the plan for tomorrow

Ask for a stool sample to be taken, but also look into gallbladder issue. Pregnancy and birth can start them off

I had giardiasis and didn’t vomit at all, just had bad diarrhoea, nausea, churning guts and sulphur burps.
I had EMCS under GA and had none of the problems you describe. It doesn’t sound like IBS at all (I have that too!)
They really should be doing a stool sample.

I have now handed in 3 stool samples and blood tests have been done. Doctor is concerned it’s maybe coeliac ??

Apparently pregnancy and traumatic events can trigger auto immune diseases. Should get results on Tuesday
