Does anyone else suffer from this?!

I get it at least once a month, and have done since mid teens. Sometimes after a poop or orgasm, and the pain is bloody unbearable.

An hour and a half I was up for in the middle of the night, resorted to a hot bath which did not help. In the end I took painkillers which helped - not had it this bad in a while! I was in tears and it felt like my bum hole was going to drop out.

Other than that, no idea what actually causes this :(

Yes I get this badly when I'm ovulating or on my period and have since I was a teen. It's flipping agony. No endo or PSOS as far as I'm aware. I'm curious, how does using a blue inhaler help?

TheOliveFinch · 24/02/2025 22:16

I get this intermittently but always in the middle of the night waking me up it’s hideous

dothehokeycokey · 24/02/2025 22:41

I had it this weekend while walking round M and s doing a food shop

Literally thought I was going to hit the ceiling Blush

I've had a horrendous cold and chest resulting In a shitty cold sore which I haven't had in years, then I came on earlier than expected and the period pains been horrendous even double painkillers didn't ease it and then javelin arse in the middle of marks ConfusedConfused

Dh knew exactly what was wrong g as he said I had that certain look of fear pain and panic on my face and he didn't need to ask what was wrong.

It's so bizarre

RosesAndHellebores · 24/02/2025 22:49

Yep. I know exactly what you mean. I used to get it but only very occasionally, always in the daytime, usually during a meeting. Looking at other people's comments, it might have been during ovulation as there was no connection with menstruation or constipation. I also never suffered with periods.

I haven't had it for decades, I didn't get it when pg and it stopped after ds was born.

It was a wince worthy pain.

Is there a known cause?

Violashifts · 24/02/2025 22:49

Would pile cream help that numbs the bum?

I get this - much less often these days. Things that help are sitting on something like a tennis ball that puts pressure on your anus and blue inhaler is also supposed to relieve it (didn't for me). Having a poo often relieved it. Mine were usually when I'd been running (tight pelvic floor maybe) or just randomly in the middle of the night.

I used to get it while running too. I once had to wave away a concerned dog walker, who hovered over me solicitously after discovering me in the foetal position on a woodland path. I managed to gasp out "arse daggers!", whereupon she replied "oh, righto!" A fellow sufferer, I suspect.
