Constant bleeding MIRENA

Twiglet2353 · 08/09/2024 21:03

5 months into have the Mirena coil fitted and I'm still bleeding every day. Still have defined cycles (albeit shorter now, around 21 days), but continuous spotting in between.

The reason I had the coil fitted was due to irregular bleeding, I would usually have one week per cycle without spotting, so it's really frustrating that I'm now actually bleeding more.

The pamphlet says wait 3-6 months for bleeding to calm down but I haven't noticed any improvement so far.

Has anyone else experienced the same and can give me some reassurance it will resolve? Or should I have it removed?

If you want it removed they should remove it

yes I had the coil and bleed all the time to the point I couldn't leave the house as it was that heavy. I asked then to take it out and the refused until I said either they do it or I will as its my body and I don't want it in anymore. ad soon as they took it out a few days later the bleeding stopped.

it takes a while (i have a feeling for me it was at least 5 months); but once they settle down these mirena are am miraculous. Give it a little longer I would say,

I had it for 4 months and was definitely thinking I need to get this out (was just coming up to Christmas) but while I was waiting over the festive period to get an appointment it stopped and 5 years later I haven't had a bit of trouble since

Thanks everyone. I'll hold out another month or so then and have a rethink if it continues past that point. Otherwise no unpleasant symptoms with it, so if it can stop the bleeding then that would be great 👍🏻

Had the same but it did settle but like you had clear but v light cycles.

More recently those are more erratic so assume it's menopause kicking in more. I'm 48

Hang in there if you can
