Unusual period clot

I’m not even sure if this is the right section for this but I started the pill a month ago, and have finished my first pack and on the 7 day break, I’m about 5/6 days into the break and I got what I assumed was my period starting today, sharp pain in my tummy and very light bright red blood which got heavier this evening

I just went to the loo as I could feel something unusual as if I was passing something and had what looked to be a big clot like nothing I’ve had before. I do get the usual big red round clots at times but this was quite long, almost grey in colour with like a red blob on the end almost attached, quite thick, and different texture. I’ve never really seen anything like it before so unsure if it’s because I’ve started the pill or if it’s something I need to be concerned about. Anyone else had anything similar?

Decidual cast maybe?

Any chance you could have been pregnant? A blood clot will eventually dissolve completely in water or saline, whereas products of conception so not.
If not that , it might just be a heavy period or a decidual cast.

Could it be a uterine/decidual cast? I think they can be associated with progesterone pills?

Twillseeker · 04/09/2024 23:20

I’ve just googled pics of decidual cast and it looks similar in terms of size and fleshy type texture. I guess I could have been pregnant I only just started the pill so there may have been a time where I wasn’t fully protected.

Although I just passed another one, would there be more than one if I was pregnant? This one was the same but not as long

Highly doubt it’s a miscarriage. At this stage it would be nothing beyond bleeding

Personally, I'd do a pregnancy test to be sure either way. IF you were pregnant, the hormones don't suddenly disappear and could stay for days/weeks, so I'd check.
