Bleeding on mirena- when does it stop?!

I had the mirena coil fitted in mid April. I was told to expect minor bleeding but it would settle down.

5 months later I'm still having daily bleeding. It's light, but bloody annoying. I've also had thrush a couple of times, and BV, so along with the bleeding, I've been a bit miserable down there! I have to wear panty liners daily, so I don't think that's helping with the itching and discomfort.

I had the coil to deal with really heavy periods, so if ultimately it calms down I don't want you to give up too early.

So I guess I'm looking for an indication of when things should started to settle down, and experiences of longer term periods/bleeding. Thanks!

This lasted for me for maybe two months, it’s annnoying isn’t it and I can see why you’re getting frustrated after 5 months. Maybe speak to your GP and I hope it resolved soon.

It didn't IME! I had a few days without any bleeding but most of the time I had some form of spotting, periods got heavier (it was meant to solve this issue!) and typically lasted 10-11 days. After a year of hell it thankfully bled itself out.
