Thrush Help/Advice

Hi Ladies.

More than a week ago I noticed thrush symptoms so I bought a treatment from the supermarket.

General soreness/itching/just uncomfortable - I haven't had any odor/change in discharge or any pain/discomfort going for a wee.

By the end of last week I still had symtoms so went to the GP who gave me the pill to take flo-something, the pesary and the exteranl cream. Took all the treatments on Friday last week and - although better - I just don't feel 100% - Ive noticed I'm itchy at night and all I can describe is just not feeling 100% myself down there.

Should I go back to the GP or is it just taking a while to clear up.

It's just playing on my mind - you know when you don't feel yourself.

Thanks in advance x

Are you still using the cream, as this is helpful to continue using until symptoms have passed?

Fluconazole usually takes a few days to work, but together with the pessary you should be feeling more comfortable now.

Are you also doing the usual suggestions to allow the area to "breathe" - cotton underwear, loose clothing, no tights or tight jeans, etc?

If not better in a few days, you should see GP again, as it might be something else.

Thanks for coming back to me. I'm not using the cream as I wasn't sore/itchy externally but I still have it so can do.

Yep - nothing close fitting/cotton undies/no soap etc..

Yeah I think if Friday comes round and it's still there I'll go back - 2 weeks is a long time to have thrush 😐

You need to do a swab to check if you still have it, cause creams can cause irritation aswell

The one or canesten pessary helped me, even though it gave me chalky discharge for a week!

If you're sexually active OP it might be worth getting an STI test.
I also bought some PH balance test strip swab things which helped me confirm it was thrush.
