Hey guys, hope you are well.
So I have been married for 10 years, recently my husband has started his own business and its doing very well.
Anyway whilst he was looking at the queries coming in, he joked saying 'I think we should do a prenup. I laughed it off but it's been on mind since he said it.
Now I know the first thing everyone is going to say talk to him about it.. but I know if I do that he's going to say 'I can't joke with you, your too sensitive'...
Wdy guys think..
We have been married for 10 years and have a 4 year old daughter.

its a joke

Arlanymor · 31/08/2024 14:50

I think it’s clearly a joke, because you can’t have a prenup when you’re ten years already into a marriage. Doubtless he made the joke because he knew it wasn’t ever something that could be a reality, I wouldn’t pay it any mind.

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 31/08/2024 14:51

Bit late if he was serious if you’ve been married for ten years

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/08/2024 14:51

This. Must be a joke.

Sometimesright · 31/08/2024 14:51

It’s a joke and anyway it’s too late for a prenup don’t be so sensitive. Maybe joke he should sort his will just in case 😉

sunsetsandboardwalks · 31/08/2024 14:52

I mean, you're married already - how can it be anything but a joke? Confused

MonsteraMama · 31/08/2024 14:55

How could it be anything but a joke, you've been married for ten years! I think he might have a point about you being sensitive.

Naz110 · 31/08/2024 15:18

Hey guys,
I dont have too much understanding about pre nup. So you can't do after you've got married..? You have to do it at the time?

Pre means before. Nup means nuptials. Pre-nup means before you get married.

I'd assume he was joking.

Edited for spelling.

lovelyhat · 31/08/2024 15:20

Pre nuptial means before marriage.

Are you legally married? Is he trying to suggest that you’re after ‘his’ money?

Followtopic · 31/08/2024 15:21

He’d have said post nup - which you absolutely can get, and generally holds more water than a pre nup. But he’s joking. He’s proud of himself.

Naz110 · 31/08/2024 15:23

We are legally married. What is it called if you get divorced you get nothing the husband owns? Is there any such thing apart from the pre-nup which you do when you get married ( I understand now)

Naz110 · 31/08/2024 15:24

And no I'm not after his money lol

Im just sitting here wondering why he said that. But you guys have me confidence its just a bloody joke!

I am a overthinker! Not ashamed to admit.

There is a post-nup which you can sign after marriage. But why would you?

Agreed, don't sign anything.
