Miscarriage but still have pregnancy symptoms

Hi, I believe I miscarried last week but still have pregnancy symptoms (stuffy nose, intense nausea, food aversions, fatigue, swollen breasts). I bled heavily for about a week but still feel pregnant. I'm going to the GP tomorrow to see what's going on, but wondered if anyone has experienced this?

You poor thing. Your hormone levels will take longer to drop back down than it takes for you to stop bleeding. You'll test positive for a while, and will still have symptoms for a little bit too. Hugs.

Really sorry to hear you've miscarried. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks back in June 2024. I had worsening pregnancy symptoms for a long time after. I would say about a month. I started to feel nauseous and have cravings.

Do get checked out because unless you've had a scan it's possible you're still pregnant. Some women have heavy bleeds and all is fine. Also it's possible to miscarry a twin but for another embryo to survive.

@Springadorable I took a test that showed negative earlier but still feeling bad! Hopefully this means hormones are decreasing though and won't last too long, thank you xxx

@GoldenGirl85 I'm sorry you experienced this too, a month is a long time. Nausea is my worst symptom and continuing after bleeding is slowing - was this the same for you? I hope you're feeling better sending hugs x

@Bemusedandconfusedagain thanks for your comment. I'm going to speak with my GP tomorrow and see if I can be referred to an early pregnancy unit, I think I need to be checked over as this is unfamiliar for me x

Sorry for your loss 😔 heart breaking!

If you're worried speak to your GP and maybe ask for a scan to check all clear.

I had symptoms and positive HPTs for 6 weeks after finishing heavy miscarriage bleeding. So many tests and scans and blood checks, everything was ruled out. No rhyme or reason to it. Just took ages for my hormones to settle back. The slight glimmer of hope and my wanting and willing it that each test gave me made the emotional recovery awful.

Be kind to yourself.

@Margo34 I'm so sorry my lovely that sounds so difficult for you and really unsettling too. I've had a negative HPT but my body is just not its normal self. I will see what my GP says and if not try and call an EPU myself. Thank you for your message xxx

@Wmoejg yes, I had bleeding for about 2.5 weeks after. Was really heavy the first few days, I had to wear the super thick maternity pads.

I was also getting positive pregnancy tests up to 3 weeks after.

I'm pregnant again now and just taking it week by week and praying this time it sticks.

Wmoejg · 28/08/2024 10:47

@GoldenGirl85 congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm sending you all the hope and prayers that it goes well for you ❤️❤️❤️
