Termination and smear !!

Hi is there any gynaecologist on here to help me and stop me from this hellish thoughts!! I had a smear done in January 2023 .. but I had a termination on December 2022 had some problems and it didn’t leave me until 6weeks after :( I was unaware I had to wait 12 week to have a smear after a termination until recently .. I have spoke to 2 gynaecologists who have both said it won’t have effected my results .. I struggle with bad health anxiety and can not stop worrying because iv googled it and it says you have to wait for your cells to go back to normal so I’m terrified my results were wrong :( really need some reassurance even though iv had 2 people from the hospital tell me the same thing.

I'm guessing your smear came back OK?
They only test for HPV first and only check the cells if they find it. If no HPV is found they don't check anything else.

@dementedpixie thank you for your reply.. yes my results were clear no further action needed and they’ll see me again in 3 years time, I rang another hospital today and a gyni nurse said the exactly same thing you did.. was nice to hear it more in detail she said if there was no virus then I don’t need to do anything else as it wouldn’t effect my results if it’s clear! Phew I can’t help myself I get something in my head and I can’t switch it off :( it’s ruining my life this health anxiety
