Hi, I am due a UFE and was wondering what to expect with regards to pain and recovery period?

I am a bit worried and uncertain.

Thanks!

You should ask for this to be moved to a relevant section. This is for people who work in universities to discuss their work. Just report your own post and ask for it to be moved. And best wishes for the procedure.

I had this in 2017 and it shrank the 8cm fibroid successfully without the need for surgical removal / hysterectomy, but....

It was agony. The team told me that i was in an unusual amount of pain, so my experience wasn't typical. It also started unusually quickly after the surgery (about ten mins).

I had lots of doses of fentanyl, which eventually overpowered the pain, but it also had the unwanted side effect of slowing my heart rate right down.

It's a good solution for fibroids especially if you don't want a hysterectomy / early menopause, but be aware that the immediate aftermath of the procedure can be hugely painful (although I was an extreme case, I think).
