Periods after baby

I heard that your periods can get worse after you have a baby, but I am on my third period after having my firstborn and they're virtually painless now. Do you know why this might be?

Pre baby, my periods were so painful that sometimes my vision went black and while. I had to take ibuprofen round the clock for the first few days of my period, and try to keep walking or lay down. It was tough. Now that I've had a baby, I know that my periods used to feel as bad as contractions up to about 9cm dilated. Obviously every time I raised this with a GP I was dismissed...

I'm now 11 months postpartum and on my third period (I am breastfeeding). They've been lighter and I'm getting no pain - just the odd light cramp every now and then. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it a sign there was something wrong with me?

This happened to me. I think its quite common and I've never worried about it,it's just an adjustment. I'd only worry if they got very heavy or painful and you had other worrying symptoms or if they stop altogether

Mine were agony before I had children. I knowingly overdosed on painkillers every months because it was the only way I could take the edge off combined with TENS machine, hot water bottle etc

After my DS was born they improved by about 80% and have stayed that way, thank god!

Do you know if you could have undiagnosed endometriosis? It's common for periods to become less painful for women with endometriosis after giving birth.
