Recent Smear Test

Hi, just wondering if anybody has experienced something similar...

So I had my smear test on Tuesday and after checking my notes on the NHS app tonight, noticed that the nurse had documented under the examination section "Intrauterine contraceptive device threads seen".

The problem is, I don't have a coil fitted. The last time I had one fitted was roughly guessing, almost 10 years ago way before getting pregnant (my LB is now 3). I had it removed due to experiencing severe cramping.

Could this just be a genuine mistake or am I best calling to check?

I don't know, but hoping someone will answer if this is in Active.
I have a smear booked for Monday. I didn't know it showed online (only just got the app) so I'll look and let you know what mine reports (like that's any help 🙄😂)

It’s probably an error in the documentation. Best to get it corrected though.

Agreed - call (or email) your surgery and query it.

I think they have tick boxes

I had one this week and mine said the exact same (although I do have a coil!)

But it also said 'routine discussion about domestic violence undertaken' that did not happen - unless the enquiry about what the plaster on my ankle was for was it!.

Looking back at my health record all my smears say the same (I have them annually at the moment) so I assume they just tick all the boxes as routine. I think they just haven't got used to people accessing their data easily and seeing the answers to their mindless box ticking.

Not a criticism - I do a similarish job and mindlessly tick boxes at times too.

@Peasnbeans Yes please do. I'm hoping it's just kind of an automated thing that she's forgot to remove but if not then I think I need to be worried 🤣

@Iudncuewbccgrcb Yes I'm guessing that this may be the case as we didn't have any discussion about contraception. I will ring on Monday to double check. Thank you.

Sorry I see this was last year but did you ever get an answer? I've had the same on my nhs app notes
