Bump on cervix, irregular bleeding

Hi my head is spinning and I'm starting to panic so just looking for some reassurance. I'll start off by saying that I had my smear test last November and all came back clear but the nurse did say that my cervix looked inflamed (did swabs for other infections and all came back clear). I bled during my smear and it was really painful (unlike the previous time). I have been spotting after sex and sex is also quite painful (I've been very stressed as my daughter has been poorly since she was born so we don't have sex often so just put it down to that). But lately I've also had some bleeding randomly, this has happened twice(I have the implant so don't have "periods"). The last 2 weeks or so I've also felt sort of a fullness inside like there's an air bubble but there's not. Anyway I thought I'd check and I could feel a small bump on my cervix. I am going to make an appointment on Monday but I'm really panicking now that I have cancer and was just wondering if anyone had similar symptoms that turned out to be something else? Thank you

Good to hear that your smear test was normal. The bleeding could be caused by ectropion, it's really common and nothing to be worried about but of course you should get proper medical advice. I have ectropion and Nabothian cysts on my cervix, smear and biopsies both normal. You could also have a polyp rather than cysts but again best to get a check over. There's a fair few things that could be happening before it's cancer. I'm sure all is ok. Try not to panic and remind yourself of your smear result x

Cervical cancer is 99.7% caused by HPV, which you didn't have on your last smear and it takes longer than that (roughly 5-8 years) for HPV to cause cancer. Most likely the bump is a Nabothian cyst and the bleeding from ectropion, as PP had. Ectropion can look like an 'inflamed cervix' so that's likely what you had when the nurse saw it, it's very common. More common in ladies on hormonal contraception, but can happen regardless.

Thank you both for your responses. I saw a nurse yesterday who said that when they took the swabs on my last smear it came back "mild candidal infection" which they didn't tell me about when I called for my results (I've had no symptoms of this really) so wasn't treated back last year so that could be why. She didn't examine me as she said she would want to take swabs again and bloods but they can't sit around over the weekend so I'm back in at 9 on Monday for an examination. I'm glad I made the appointment I think that's the hardest part. We put things like this off for so long but if it was any other part of your body you'd just make the appointment 🙈
