A few months ago I went to the doctor to discuss increasingly heavy periods and shorter than normal cycles along with an inability to loose any weight.
I am 36 and after stopping microgynon 30 in 2020 I managed to loose 2 stone through healthy eating and regular exercise. My cycle also returned to a very regular 28 days with normal bleeding for me.
Fast forward to 2024 and I have gained more than 2 stone ( BMI now 28) and no amount of watching what I eat and exercising seem to be shifting the weight which is predominantly around my stomach. My periods seem to be in an almost 21 day cycle and day 1 / 2 and very heavy which I have never had before.
Doctor suggested various blood tests which were all satisfactory and also an ultrasound which came back clear, cysts on one ovary but not consist with pcos.
The doctors suggestion at the end of the call regarding the ultrasound is taking Orlistat to aid weight loss. Having read online the side effects do not make it sound like a route I want to go down.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and can offer any words of wisdom?
