I'm almost 51 and in perimenopause.
Periods comes sporadic every 3- 4 months.
The last one was in Spring. Now for last 2days I got these shockingly bad period pains,
Started yesterday morning as mild pain, stopped during the day and since last night is absolutely non bearable.
I keep checking but not blood! It's definitely that, nothing else, as I can feel pain in cervix ( normal for me during periods, my cervix is very tigh usually as per operation I had year ago)
Is this normal? It so bad that I'm thinking contacting gp..

I would go to urgent care,it could be a ruptured ovarian cyst which should be treated immediately. Anything unbearable should be treated straight away.

I took strong painkillers however it does nothing, feels like I'm in labor..

I would see a GP. As a general rule any bad pain that isn't getting better is worth seeking advice for in my view. There are several conditions that can cause similar pain to period pain.

I read about the ovarian ruptured cyst, it's says it would be a sharp pain on one side, thus is on both, just like period.

Gp surgery got back to me offering phone appointments only this afternoon after 4pm. I surprised that they didn't invite me to examine me actually.
They must think it's nothing then..

If pain gets unbearable def to a&e , they can at least give u proper painkillers

Soreeere · 13/08/2024 13:36

I took double painkillers and the pain now disappeared, but probably will be back once it wears off.

Soreeere · 13/08/2024 22:13

What's stopping you going to urgent care? I'd have no faith in a GP who diagnosed severe pain over the phone which no physical examination.

Soreeere · 15/08/2024 09:22

Sadly no a&e near me, hours away.

What do people do in an emergency? How's the pain today?
