First period after baby 8months PP

Hi all,

I recently got my period which my baby was 8mo. I should be due a period but it has not come. I have done pregnancy tests which are all negative.

I currently exclusively breastfeed so wondered if this made them more irregular?

Does anyone know if you ovulate the same when breastfeeding?

Yeah I think when mine came back when exclusively breastfeeding, there wasn't a normal time between them for the first couple (by normal I mean based on my pre-pregnancy cycle).

I exclusively bf my daughter and my periods came back properly 6 months pp but were irregular in length. Sometimes 28days sometimes nearly 40. Was different each month until I completely stopped bf at 15 months. Found mine were also ridiculously heavy.

Thank you @DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace and @abbs1. It's so hard to track ovulation then isn't it?! I only want a small age gap between my children (only want 2) and want to start trying again soon but this means it'll be quite difficult. Not ready to sacrifice giving up BF just yet though!

I use the clue app for tracking and it's been super helpful. You can use it for free or pay for extra stuff. I have 23 months between my kids and clue along with ovulation sticks I did at night worked well with helping get pregnant again.
