Post baby periods

In need of some advice please (I am also going to book in to see a GP)

Before I give context, what I'm looking for is any advice on a good solution to horrendous periods that completely floor you every single month, but not a contraceptive with hormones in...

Every month the 1st day of period I'm in absolute agony and can't work or do a thing. I'm on Mefanamic acid Tranx something to take edge off but it just doesn't. It's unbearable.

I always had awful periods and went on mini pill when I was young and was on it for over 15 years which stopped them (win!) but I soon realised when I came off it to get pregnant what the hormones had done to my body - I never felt many emotions and don't want hormones again!

Skip to post baby and periods are back and as bad as they were before, if not worse. gP said to get coil but I really don't want anything hormonal as I've said.

Any help would be so appreciated! I'd also a contraceptive that's great but not essential. I'm hoping to try again for another baby in a year or so...

Thank you for reading!

You can get the copper coil OP. That one does not have any hormones x

Thank you for replying! I did spot that as an option but from what hear, it can make periods worse?

It can but then so can any contraception, like mine were worse on the pill for awhile. Even if it does make them worse initially it can then improve. Other than condoms (which is what we’re currently doing as we have a 4 month old baby but will be ttc again at the end of the year so I don’t see any point starting up long term contraception now) there aren’t any non hormonal options that are completely free of any risk x
