Hi everyone
I wonder if you can help.
Since the birth of my daughter, I've been experiencing a challenging cycle - mood swings, crazy anxiety and a change in periods. I'd convinced myself I was peri (38).
I bit the bullet and paid to see a private women's health GP. She said it's unlikely peri as my periods are still regular and instead likely worsening PMS.
However, the worst part of my cycle is actually the build up to ovulation. The luteal phase feels a relief.
As I can't take the combined pill due to migraine with aura, she said the next course would be replicating the pill via a Mirena coil and oestrogel. The oestrogel should be used at four pumps, to suppress and override ovulation.
Anyway. I had the Mirena coil fitted and left it for a week. I then stared on oestrogel - just one pump initially.
It's probably the nocebo effect, but my anxiety has been terrible after the gel. And now I've convinced myself the idea of adding oestrogel, when I already struggle around ovulation (when estrogen is high), is a terrible idea and the doctor has it all wrong.
Any supportive words that it's the right treatment? Granted it's only been a few days on Oestrogel! 😅
