Hi everyone I started my period 17 days ago started as normal seemed like it was going to stop then got really heavy with lots of clots I went to a&e who have put urgent appointment threw to gyne but could be 2 weeks before I'm seen they give me more tranexamic acid and northisterone ,tested my iron levels which they said are fine for now tested for pregnancy was negative
I started the northisterone yesterday and the bleeding became only spotting which was great finally thought it was stopping ,today I woke up I'm bleeding red blood with clots again
Will northisterone eventually stop it anyone any experience of using it this way .
I can't take this anyone my moods so low I'm drained feel disgusting and spending a fortune on giant pads I'm not sleeping
Ive just became stuck im house for fear of flooding dont know how can keep living like this
and doctors don't care just want me to wait see gyne to get checked and bloods done
Any advice be great thank you

I think given that you’ve tried the medication they’ve given you and it hasn’t worked that you need to go back to A and E. You can’t be left bleeding like this, it’s dangerous.

The norethisterone will stop the bleeding, but it does take a few days (and you might spot for longer). I'm sorry you're going through this. For me, when this happened I was diagnosed with fibroids. I hope you get a gynae appointment and answers soon.

Nope.. the medication just slowed it down… I was run down and house bound … I’m still bleeding today but lightly been 8 months have been out forward to lap surgery

It depends how big your fibroids are and where in the womb they are.

GoodDream · 09/08/2024 16:28

Yes, everything from a mirena coil to stop the bleeding, to a small op, to a big op, to the final cure - a hysterectomy. Don't stress about it! Your gynae will find out what's wrong and will help.

How did you get on in the end?
