I think I must be perimenopausal. I had been having periods every couple of weeks then I hadn't had a period at all since March. I had taken numerous pregnancy tests which should have been negative as DH in infertile due to medication but I wanted to check.
All tests were negative. In this time, I have also piled on weight. Having previously always kind of been a steady weight.
I've been utterly exhausted too but I'm a teacher and it has been a long term.
Last week, my long awaited period arrived. Really heavy, right through tampons and pads in an hour. All week it has been insanely heavy and I have felt dreadful.
It has been a full 7 days now and still going. I've had heavy periods in the past but this is insane. Would I be ridiculous to try and see a dr or nurse about it next week?
Is this going to be the new normal for me? Urgh!

Not ridiculous at all. Same happened to me but I didn't go to the gp for 6 weeks. When I eventually did go I was very anemic and very dehydrated from the blood loss and was told off. Apparently I should have seen the gp after 10 days of non- stop , heavy bleeding.

I was given tranesamic acid, progesterone and something else - bleeding stopped after a day and that was it. Didn't happen again

Yes, please contact your GP. This happened to me when my periods returned after having DD1 and like pp, i also got a telling off from the GP for not going to A&E due to the speed with which i was filling pads. They prescribed me tranaxemic (sp?) acid for immediate use plus to keep at home in case it happens again.

I do think I need to see someone as it is just horrible. Pulse keeps dropping to the point that my watch gets anxious. Range of recorded heart rates are 49-92, average resting heart rate is 61...sounds good but I'm really not very fit so that is a bit scary too.
