Hi,
When will a GP suggest surgical draining for a Bartholin Cyst? How bad does it have to get before they step in?

Generally (as a gynaecologist) I would expect a referral in for assessment if oral antibiotics have failed/ evidence of someone who is systemically unwell eg objective fever or high heart rate.

Just to add to expert advice above I have had a few of these and have treated them at home, they are very painful!
Frequent Warm/ hot bath with Epsom salts helps, or a hot compress several times a day and regular ibuprofen. I admit sometimes, if I can bear it I gently squeeze it in the bath to see if I can burst it so starts it to heal, although no doubt this isn't recommended!
