Boob pain

Does anyone know what a sharp breast pain can be? It's not continuous, just comes and goes every minute or 2. The pattern reminds me of a light flashing slowly, comes on, goes off.

I'm in my 30s, have large breasts. I have a sharp pain in one of them, my nipple hurt so much early morning it actually woke me up. Not pregnant, not on my period ( finished few days ago). Can't feel any lumps, doesn't hurt when I touch.

What could it be ?

I would go to your gp OP

Get it checked. I’ve had breast cancer twice, and both times the only vague symptom was a sharp, intermittent pain. Despite medics saying “breast pain is not a sign of breast cancer”, for many people I know it definitely was a sign.

Thank you, I have contacted Bupa to see what they suggest. Really strange pain and got me concerned as is enough to distract me from stuff. Now that got me worried 😱

Yep. I had pain and my boob then swelled a little . Urgent referal to 2ww clinic and told I have breast cancer last week .
Not wanting to scare you op but ANY breast change that isn’t usual , get to your gp and ask to be refered to the fast track clinic , 9 times out of ten it will be nothing but it’s important not to ignore it . Although rarer I have discovered that pain can indeed be a breast cancer symptom but it could also be nothing

I had this when I gained weight. I’m naturally petite with small boobs, so it’s almost like my boobs became too heavy for my body when I gained weight. Sleeping only side was really sore for example. Felt like a massive bruise even though the skin was intact

Thank you - still very much in limbo waiting for results and a treatment plan right now .x The waiting is the worst !

@CarsAreExpensive may I ask what happened with the pain?

CarsAreExpensive · 20/08/2024 08:10

Haven't had it for few days and so far they are associating it to perimenopause. I will have it checked nonetheless, just waiting for Bupa

I experienced similar, woken by awful pain for a couple of nights but it was in run up to my period and did then stop so I'm assuming hormonal.

For those who have experienced breast cancer- does the pain come and go or is it constant? Thanks

Mindymomo · 20/08/2024 08:24

Have you tried Evening Primrose oil as this really helped me with painful boobs. The pain would start again if I stopped taking it.

ConfusedFox · 20/08/2024 09:22

@okydokethen mine has been constant in right breast for past 3 weeks. If still there in a week my GP says Will refer me.

ConfusedFox · 04/09/2024 22:08

@CarsAreExpensive any luck with Bupa?

Not yet. GP recons it's non urgent abd most likely peri menopause so awaiting Bupas response. I will update if I hear back.

How is yours ??

If you get nowhere, personally if you can afford it I would try and book a private mammogram to be sure.

ConfusedFox · 07/09/2024 10:08

@CarsAreExpensive has improved a lot since taking EPO but still feels tender/odd at times. I am unsure whether to ask for referral as worried I had such horrid pain for 3 weeks and reading others' stories.
