Unusual bleeding

Recently (about the past two months) I've been having irregular bleeding. Pretty sure I'm perimenopausal so put it down to that.

Then I've started bleeding after sex and constant (light/pinkish) bleeding but only when I wipe. It's also painful during sex.

Planning on seeing the GP tomorrow but looking for reassurance from others who've been through the same and what did it turn out to be caused by? Google is saying everything from ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, cysts or an STI. I can't sleep, I have pretty bad health anxiety and have convinced myself of the worst 😭 At this point I'd be thankful to hear I have chlamydia (never thought I'd be saying that), at least that's easily treatable 😢

Just to add I've been getting some sharp stabby pain on and off, feels like it's in my left ovary? 🤔

You definitely should see your GP but you need to stop catastrophising. It could be something like fibroids, endo etc treatable things that aren't going to kill you. I went to GP for similar and was referred for a pelvic ultrasound. Haven't received results yet but have been diagnosed with something unrelated that could cause the same symptoms I had. So please don't get too anxious, you'll drive yourself crackers😊

Thank you. I know that the odds are that it's something non life threatening I just can't help think the worst 😣I think it's going to be waiting around to find out that's going to be the hardest part, I just need my mind put to rest so I can hopefully stop worrying.

Hi how have you been getting on? I'm in the same boat waiting for a scan

SpillerGlitter · 14/10/2024 16:31

How did both of you get on in the end?

WearyAuldWumman · 14/10/2024 16:36

Could be caused by polyps. I had one on the cervix, I was told. In the end, several were removed - a couple uterine and a couple in the vagina. Had them removed in my early 60s. (I'd been getting spotting prior to that for a good while.)

I had a scan which showed thickened lining of womb so had to be put to sleep have an endoscopy to have a proper look but everything came back normal and actually since then I haven't had any abnormal bleeding, doctor said probably just hormones
