Cerelle - how did it affect you?

I started taking Cerelle about a month ago, not for contraception but to see if it helped with the cyclical symptoms I was experiencing every month. I have now had essentially two periods back to back with a break in bleeding of about two days...I was aware this could happen but how long should I expect this to continue?

Also has anyone experienced any other side effects?

I decided to give it 3 months before calling it a day as I kept bleeding.

Bang on 3 months my constant bleeding stopped and I never had any more. For years.

Marvellous stuff.

I gained weight, loads of spots and greasy lank hair. Also a delightful sense of foreboding. The bleeding settled down to minor spotting (for reference, bleeds on the pill are not technically ‘periods’ because they don’t follow ovulation). I was on it for medical issues and found the benefits medically didn’t outweigh the side effects so I stopped taking it. FWIW I found Cerazette better but my practice switched me over to Cerelle - allegedly it’s the same but cheaper but the side effects were much worse.

I've been on it almost a year to help with what I believe is PMDD. For the first 6 months I had random bleeds that would last for ages but I haven't had one for a good while now. I am a bit spottier than usual, other than that nothing. I do sometimes get a brief resurgence of PMT type symptoms and some mild period pain, but no bleeding anymore. Overall I've found it pretty good but if the bleeding had continued I would have stopped because it was really annoying.

It is quite annoying as we are heading into the summer holidays and I was hoping to take the kids swimming etc and this just makes it more awkward!
