Desogestrel pill and heavy bleeding

Long post so apologies in advance 🥲

I have Pcos and my periods have been all over the place for years, earlier on in the year (around April/may) I had a bleed that lasted for 4 weeks and was so heavy I had to keep going and having blood tests done in case I needed a transfusion.

following this I was advised to go on the pill Desogestrel to manage the heavy periods.

I have been on the pill for 5 weeks, just after starting it I had an ultrasound scan and was told the lining of my uterus was too thick and required a biopsy (which I have been referred for)

my question is, is it normal to be having a really heavy period whilst on this pill? It started out as spotting but I am now sleeping in 3 pads and still bleeding through it is so heavy and has lasted over a week now.

I know it’s probably a good thing to be bleeding due to the lining of my uterus being thick but I just need to know this will eventually calm down if anyone has any experience.

I also have bad anxiety which has been a LOT worse these last few weeks but I’m unsure if this is pill related or due to other things going on

I look forward to any replied

thank you ❤️

Desogestrel can cause erratic bleeding in some women and for some women it stops their periods. It may or may not calm down.

Could the combined pill be an option?

I've been on Desogestrel for 7yrs and haven't had a period since I started on it.

i went on it again a 42, i've been on it previously with no issues.

this time it took 3 months for the bleeding to stop, and i still get the odd show.

if its that heavy i'd be concerned though.
