Coil- 1 month on severe cramps

Hi those of you who have or had a coil. Did you experience severe cramping to the point you feel you may faint? It is mostly to the left ovary. I am wondering if it's possible mine has moved and this is what is causing the pain. Is this normal and did it miraculously stop after 3 months?

I had similar and it only stopped when I expelled it. Never again.

Get it checked out.

I had no cramping at all. You need to get it checked. Can you feel the strings?

dempsey73 · 15/07/2024 21:21

Yep, for 9 weeks, I thought I was going to pass out at times. The advice was to take ibruprofen (which I can't take because I have asthma) but it did stop.

I have a backwards tilting womb and haven't checked for the strings i suppose I should

@dempsey73 thank you that's reassuring 9 weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things when it can last upwards of 5 years.

Two of mine were absolutely fine. The last one I had though I had severe pain I was convinced I must have been torn somehow. They sent me for a scan (really quick) and it was all fine. I would call the gp.

Well I have attempted to find the strings with no luck, not that I actually know where to find them as my womb tilts backwards so I will have to speak to the dr as the pain is predominantly to the left ovary area

How did you get on? Im having the same on my right side, I am due on & getting spotting though. The pain is contraction style sharp & on and off. Xx

My coil has stayed in place apparently, I am still intermittently bleeding and want to have it removed but haven't gone back to the drs as of yet as I wanted to see if it would settle. I am going to track my periods in an app for the next few months to see if it's settling or if I should have it removed. The pain has settled now thankfully which has helped a lot
