Peri Meno - is this a symptom

You know that feeling you get when you drive over a small hill or go down a steep hill quick in the car and your tummy jumps and feels funny. Is that
Normal to feel every 10 minutes? It's the strangest sensation. My hairs falling out too. Periods away to nothing. Raging anger.

But the tummy thing! It's wild!

Tummy thing is probably anxiety.

VJBR · 14/07/2024 20:08

Yep. It’s a type of anxiety. Comes in waves.

Ukhotelsareshit · 14/07/2024 20:12

Yep. Weird stomach dropping unprovoked anxiety, periods a law unto themselves, going bald and rage like you can’t believe 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

rupsky · 14/07/2024 20:28

See I've had anxiety before and on setraline and propan for it. So the tummy dropping thing is freaking me. I've never had it before.

Yeah I'm sure it's peri but my bloods were normal. They tested everything and calcium was a bit low. Not enough to scream about but they are keeping an eye. They couldn't do a vit d test as it's not allowed where I am! I'm a monster

Hi, how old are you? If over 45 bloods should not be used to diagnose peri.

LuckyPlant · 14/07/2024 20:59

Presumably your thyroid function was tested but do you know if your ferritin levels were checked? Low ferritin can lead to hair loss and when my levels were particularly low I had lots of PVCs (missed beats) which sometimes felt like a lurching sensation in my chest.

Ladymuck2022 · 14/07/2024 21:37

I had a numb tummy in late 2022, turning to pressure and a dragging feeling I was convinced was symptoms of a fibroid for a whole year. Then were times I thought I was going mad.

3 hours after taking hrt - 100mg progesterone relief; my abdo feeling is started to come back. It is so freaky.

I have to keep pinching myself. I have the soft caps nighttime and oestrogel gel on the morning. 1000% more effective then the coil. Got the sensation back in my abdo people were happy to treat me ‘as a nutter’ for, when it was peri all along 🥲

Yeah thyroid problems was the initial suspect. Not for me because my periods turned crazy, late one month, bled for about 12 hours then stop. Then a 2 day period the next month, back to 12 hours then 3 days.. just all over the place. I'm so sure it's peri. My mum was 40 when she hit menopause but they just keep saying it's anxiety!

I've had CBT too. X

My mum mentioned ferritin too btw! I'll look into that!

That's my hair. It's only one side.. the other is perfect! the green line is where my hair was. My hair is so thick around the hairline then this all started falling out over the last year. It's so bad!

I'm not even grey yet! 😂

Your bloods should only be used to rule other stuff out, not rule peri out. Could it be vertigo? Vertigo is a peri symptom I think. Your other symptoms match up.

It's nonsense, really, this thing of 'too young'. I am pretty sure the NHS website says the average age for full meno is 51, and symptoms i.e. peri can start 7 years before that. But that's average so a lot of women obviously are younger or older. Especially seems to follow what age your female relatives were.

They tested FSH I think? I'm sure she done a full blood count and hormone functions. I was 3 tubes. Annoyingly though everytime I try to speak about it I start crying like mad and forget half of what's going on! All my bones and muscles are constantly aching too and I've got absolutely zero get up and go. Just want to stay in bed. I don't though as I know that's not gonna help anything! I stay kinda active!

OP posts:
rupsky · 15/07/2024 00:19

FSH was slightly elevated! I've gone back my messages with my mum to check! We discussed my cycle though and she said they would have been normal for that part of my cycle when bloods were done!

Iron? Low folate can be an indicator. Needs to be above 50 to help with hair loss.

I meant ferritin

rupsky · 15/07/2024 00:43

I don't know if ferritin was specifically measured in the full blood count but everything apart from calcium being slightly under was okay! X

I'm over 45 and GP is insisting on a blood test before I can get oestrogen for my shrivelling bits.

Apileofballyhoo · 15/07/2024 12:31

Fatigue and aches and pains and lack of motivation are absolutely perimenopause symptoms too.
