I had a uti about 2 months ago, 3 days antibiotics. Two weeks ago starting weeing a bit more then from sun constantly weeing so urine test showed trace blood and they gave me antibiotics. Finished them today and no change in symptoms except I feel really flu like. I went back to gp on thurs as felt unwell with no change in uti and they said to wait until mon and do another wee sample. No pain when I wee.
So what will they do now? We go on hol in ten days and I feel so miserable.
They said it's not spread to upper uti as they said I'd have pain in back etc etc. I pee between 5-10 times overnight so I'm absolutely knackered too (have toddler who wakes entire house around 5-6).

Hi, I'm sorry, UTIs are horrible. I've had quite a few.

Did they give you a different antibiotic the second time? Was it for longer than the 3 days? If the first antibiotic didn't get rid of it for you they might try another. They might want to send the wee sample to the lab for cultures where they can see which bacteria is present and what it should respond to. But while waiting for result hopefully give you a different antibiotic to start.

If you're feeling awful now perhaps try 111/an out of hours drop in if you are near one, or a pharmacy. But if they think it's not a "simple" UTI (I had recurrent ones) pharmacies can't always help.

Didn't they send it to the lab?
Also could it be thrush?
Ive got similar and was going back and forth with gp, symptoms say uti (frequency, burning, irritation..) but urine clear ( apart from +blood). they kept putting me on antibiotics cause of the symptoms, but shortly after i finish the course the symptoms were coming back.. and they didnt help last time at all.. so i suggested they tested for thrush aswell, so yea at the end - urine clear but it shows thrush!
Ive taken oral thrush tablet and now theres no more blood on tests ever since and theres improvement 🙃2 months of antibiotics for theush..probably made it 10 x worse 😣

Over the course of two weeks I was examined by 3 or 4 healthcare professionals (GP/nurses) who all said it couldn't be my kidney and that my urine was clear. Turned out my kidney was the size of a rugby ball and full of pus. I nearly died. Go back, OP.

@HelloMist
Same antibiotics, this time 5 days and the first was 3 days.
They seemed to test it there and say clear and then later sent a text to say there was a small amount of blood in it.
They make me feel like I'm making it up a bit, I'm definitely not. I've had about half a liter of water since last night and weed over 20 times.

@BeachRide
I will indeed be banging their doors down Monday morning!
Ah I'm sorry to hear that. It does worry they will miss something.
Selfishly I just want our holiday in 2 weeks to be ok as our last family holiday my dad died, so I'm a little anxious over it

@erniebeery I am a pro with UTIs unfortunately! Did they send it off to the lab? The reason I ask, is because if the culture tests positive for an infection in the lab, they test it again to find the right antibiotics. The ones they give you in between the dipstick and lab test are just antibiotics to cover you, but may not actually be the right ones. A number of times, I've taken abx after a positive dipstick, but then on occasion, the lab culture has shown that the abx I've taken don't work for that specific infection.
