Bleeding & mild cramps - 5 years with mirena coil

Hi all,

I have had a Mirena coil for 5.5 years! I was thrilled to see the licensing had been increased to 8 years but was told if my periods returned it may need changing sooner - but it’s so bloody painful I hoped I wouldn’t have too for another 3 years!

I am lucky to have been period free for 5 blissful years.

But today I have had spotting (quite normal even on the coil) turn into what I think is a period, I’m working from home and have some mild cramping and a b if of an iffy belly all period symptoms. Obviously I’ll see how it goes but just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this and it all went away again?!

I had bleeding and a scan showed it had moved, so wasn’t working.

Was the bleeding heavy, consistent?

I had the return or monthly light bleeds and hormone related migraines.

Had it changed and they've gone again now. Another 5 years of period free bliss 👍
