Possible cervical malignancy and/or endometriosis - any advice from those who’ve experienced this? Scared :(

Hi, hoping for some support from anyone who might have been through this. My partner recently got seen in hospital due to GP thinking symptoms pointed to appendicitis. Hospital ruled out appendicitis, did further tests/scans, resulting in a referral for a 2 week
appointment due to possible malignancy. They found signs of endometriosis including ‘kissing’ ovaries, thickening of cervix - and she found her examination extremely painful :(
The thing which I think is what instigated the referral was a cyst or polyp about 1.5cm in size.
She has been having painful periods for about the past year or so which she mentioned to GP months back (she never used to suffer much with periods) and was told probably signs of peri menopause. She also has been very fatigued of late, and does get back pain, some light bleeding between periods and uti issues.
I am very concerned on two levels - the first in terms of the polyp being something sinister, but also I don’t have any experience with endo and don’t want her to suffer from it :(
We are currently waiting for the appointment. Sorry for the long post I just was looking to get input from anyone who has been through something similar. I have researched online to try and educate self but would really appreciate input from real people! Any stories of people being referred for similar reasons, what transpired etc. Also anyone with similar experience how best to support you while going through it? We’re both very anxious about it and there isn’t much to do about that but is there anything helpful a friend/partner/doctor said to you?
thank you so much for any help!

Also to add: I faint at the sight of blood since I was a child :(
It’s never been a problem re. bleeding from my own periods and also I can discuss periods without issue, but too much conversation with people about operations, procedures or injury or watching such things on tv can set me off, as can my own minor cuts or blood being taken or injections etc!! Bloody (pun intended 😂) annoying. Not saying this to make anyone censor their comments (reading about medical things is ok!) just that I am worried about being rubbish support because of this but I guess will just have to see how that goes 😕

Hi what scan was it and did they say it’s a mass?

I have endo and adeno and I have all them symptoms

Safa2 · 11/07/2024 20:36

Most of the time it’s benign and nothing to worry about they just want to rule it out

try not to worry until your seen and I know it’s easier said than done but I have allllll the symptoms ur partner has and I have endo and adeno….

im still under investigation but very rarely do I think I have cancer or anything

Safa2 · 11/07/2024 20:37

What scans did she have and what tests

000Zer0 · 11/07/2024 22:20

Hi @Safa2 thanks for your replies 🙏
They mentioned a cervical polyp didn’t use the word mass. Pretty sure all the signs point towards endo but worried of course that the polyp is more sinister 😕 Tho like uou say we have to try to not worry!
They did an ultrasound followed by internal exam with a probe, before this did bloods and urine sample (was presenting uti type symptoms but that came back negative)

Can I ask how you experience your endometriosis, and have you had any treatment yet that has helped? Or are you still in the process of diagnosis? I know it can take ages to diagnose.
Also I don’t know what adeno is! Did a quick google but still not sure

Adeno us the ugly cousin of endometriosis I definitely have that and I have deep infinitive endometriosis which means it’s a sever case of it…
my endo experience is horrendous I have been going back and fourth to hosp for 2 years now

i have had pelvic pain more left sided and I don’t mean normal pain I mean labour type of pain when I’m due on my periods I then have pain other than that daily even when I’m not on my periods ..

I have prolonged periods which last 3 weeks and before I had the mirina coil in I had very heavy bleeding with clots.. I have fatigue … back ache leg aches …. I also bleed out my bottom when I’m on I think I have endo on my bowels aswell…

they have put me a mirina coil in in feb it’s kind of made the pain a tiny tiny better but not significantly! So I had a scan 2 weeks ago and they told me I have endo and adeno there with adhesions and my ovaries r stuck to my uterus…

I want a hysterectomy im fedup of feeling like crap 247… I really hope you get some answers and if it a polyp try not to worry they will remove it under a qwik surgery … the more you stress the worse ur health will get so think positive.. whatever it is it’s picked up and ur under the right care ….

if u need any advice jus message me I can do with someone to talk to as I’m new to the endo game aswell..

Urgh so sorry to hear you’re going through all this. Yeah I can understand why you would want a hysterectomy with all that pain. It must be awful. So my partner has been suffering for over a year so not as long as you, it started with her periods getting really bad, but now it seems like every period is worse and she’s getting abdominal pain outside of the periods and also in the bladder as well as ovary area.
I didn’t know about Adenomyosis so thanks for mentioning this. Do you mind me asking if it has taken this long (2 yrs) for you to get your diagnosis? That’s so long to be suffering :( Have you been offered any prescription pain killers at all and if so have they helped?

Yes it’s took me around 18 months I had to keep pushing for a diagnoses.. naproxen and mefanamic acid helps a little but I would say naproxen 500mg is better b ur always have it with a gas tablet to like ur tummy as it can give heartburn and acid reflux.. well my appointment has been pushed forward to Tuesday they had a cancellation! Thank god for that… how is ur partner today? Is she any better

hot water bottles help to and hot baths
