Menopausal and Bleeding

I'm 53, almost 54. I haven't had a period for about 3 years.

I have been bleeding today but it's not heavy. Yesterday I was feeling down and I used to get like this just before my period. Could it be a random period?

I forgot to change my HRT patch on Wednesday and then changed it on Sunday. Perhaps that's the cause of the bleeding.

Anyone had this? I've had blood spotting before but this is like first day of period bleeding and light.

Also if it is a period and I am still ovulating I have had unprotected sex

Please ignore the last sentence - it makes no sense Grin

It could be due to the HRT. However, all cases of post menopausal bleeding should be reported to
the GP. They will refer you into a fast tracked post menopausal bleeding clinic if they are concerned.

Am in very similar position. What progesterone are you on? GP has advised doubling my dose of utrogestan as the guidance has recently changed for the level of oestrogen I'm on, because there are issues with uterine wall build up if not enough progesterone.

GP has also referred me for pelvic ultrasound tomorrow morning. She said it was very unlikely to be anything nasty but she wanted to do this as unexpected bleeding after a long time without can be a symptom of uterine cancer.
