Hysteroscopy for adhesions

I have put this on the infertility board but thought I might get more replies here.

Next week I am having a hysteroscopy under general anesthetic where they hope to remove the adhesions and then fit an IUD that I will have in for a couple of months while everything hopefully heals up ready to start ivf.

I am just wondering of anyone has had this procedure and what to expect for recovery - both from the anesthetic and any discomfort/pain from the procedure and IUD fitting? I have the day of the procedure off work and the day after but at the preop they said I cannot drive for 48 hours after general anesthetic so work have said to take another day if needed. I assume this will be enough time to recover?

Thank you in advance! I am a bit nervous about the whole thing but I am hoping it will be a quick 'in and out' on the day and a short recovery!

I had adhesions removed some years ago. I went in I'm the morning and was out by 6pm. They removed what they could but some were stuck to my bowl so was too risky to remove. I felt fine to be honest just the odd cramps like period pains. I bled slightly for a couple of days but healed well. I can't speak on the iud as I never had one I had ivf a couple years after I had adhesions removed and it worked first time. Good luck op.

Thank you for the reply, it sounds like it should be a quick recovery then. I'm hopefully our IVF works after I get this sorted.

Fingers crossed for you. Just rest up and take it easy and the same goes when you start ivf. It's an emotional ride but see the end goal.
