PCOS, Periods with Mirena and planning TTC

I've had PCOS since my mid-teens and had very irregular periods most of my adult life. I had a Mirena coil fitted in 2018, and continued having the same very irregular periods until about 3 years ago, and haven't had a period since.
We are hoping to start TTC this time next year and I'm trying to work out if my lack of periods is due to the Mirena, the PCOS or another issue! I had a full blood panel last year which didn't show any concerns.

Has anyone had the same experience with a Mirena, i.e. periods continuing for a few years and then stopping? Did the go back to normal when it was removed? I know that TTC with irregular periods is difficult so planning early to try and get to the bottom of the cause.

PCOS does not go away of its own accord and would still be the underlying cause of your irregular periods.

You need to have LH and FSH levels tested on day 2 re PCOS. There is usually an excess of LH compared to FSH when PCOS is present and excess LH can interfere with ovulation. If blood tests are done on the “wrong” cycle days the test result can be meaningless. If you want to try to conceive then I would not delay unduly.
